Celebrating 50 Years of Our Nation Reunited as One
Inspired by Hồ Chí Minh’s 1941 sketch “Independent Vietnamese People,” this artwork expresses the aspiration for a free, independent, and self-reliant Vietnam.
Vietnam stretches across the North, Central, and South, connected as one continuous land, symbolizing unity, territorial integrity, and the strength of our people.
The khăn rằn, a traditional checkered scarf, and the green of soldiers’ uniforms honor the courage and resilience of Southern Vietnam, from the Đồng Khởi movement in Bến Tre to the historic Spring 1975 General Offensive.
The artwork also carries the words:
“This is the life we dreamed of. This is happiness.”
A reminder of the peace and prosperity made possible by generations before us.
