The Story Behind the Artwork
Doc
To mark the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s Independence, Là Lụa Là presents Doc Lap, an artwork tracing Ho Chi Minh’s 30-year journey in search of a path to independence for Vietnam.
In 1911, Ho Chi Minh left Vietnam from Nha Rong Wharf with a single aspiration: to find a way for his country to become independent and its people to be free. For thirty years, he traveled across different countries and continents, through unfamiliar lands, cities, oceans, and difficult times. Throughout this journey, the hope for independence and freedom remained at the heart of his mission.
On September 2, 1945, the Declaration of Independence was proclaimed in Hanoi, marking a new chapter in Vietnam’s history.
Eighty years later, independence and freedom remain precious values for the Vietnamese people. They are a legacy shaped by the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of generations before us.
Today, this legacy is ours to cherish and carry forward, so that the spirit of independence and freedom continues to live on.
